Every resident deserves timely access to healthcare services, free at the point of use. Ensuring access requires facilities within our communities, providing the services residents need, where they need them. That is why my key priority continues to be the rebuild of healthcare facilities in Weybridge, and ensuring same day access to services for residents. I am delighted the partners involved have put forward detailed plans for the new facilities, but this must now be delivered. I will work with Surrey County Council, the NHS, the Department for Health and Care and local residents to remove barriers and drive delivery of these essential health services.
I supported the replacement of the old Abraham Cowley Mental Health Unit at St Peter’s hospital. With building of the new mental health hospital now underway, this will transform the provision of inpatient mental health care locally.
To enhance access to great services I have:
-
Worked closely with Ashford and St Peter's Hospital Foundation Trust and support them in efforts to boost capacity, improve service provision and reduce waiting times.
-
Supported Surrey County Council and the ICP to deliver improvements to mental health services, especially CAHMS, and promote increased co-ordination between them, Surrey and Borders, our schools and community organisations to deliver tailored support when and where it is needed.
-
Advocated on behalf of residents where concerns arise over provision of local services, such as access to GP appointments. I have worked with our ICBs to address issues and am happy to meet GP surgeries directly to help identify and resolve any issues arising.
-
Worked with Government colleagues to support investment and improvement in the NHS.
