It was fantastic to meet with representatives from the WeyBetter Weybridge project and Surrey County Council today to see the new plans for the Weybridge Health Centre and library sites. These are the result of a huge amount of engagement and public consultation and I am delighted they will shortly be submitted to Elmbridge Council’s planning department for consideration. The Weybetter Weybridge team have already successfully engaged in pre-planning discussions, and it is my sincere hope the plans will meet with approval so that work can get underway.
During the last round of consultation plans were also published for a number of road changes around the area. Several of these faced significant opposition, and the team analysed the responses given and are in the process of amending the scheme plans as a result. Most notably, due to public feedback proposed closures of Elgin Road and Old Wharf Way to through traffic will not go ahead.
The road and infrastructure work will not form part of the planning application to Elmbridge Council, but information and updates on the highways and infrastructure work for the project is available here: https://weybetterweybridge.commonplace.is/proposals/roads-and-infrastructure-consultation-feedback-2023/step1
Thank you to everyone who has been involved and who has taken the time to share their views and shape this project. I will continue to work to support the team and the delivery of the new healthcare facilities.
