Today's announcement that we are to end all covid restrictions signals our return to the free and open society we had before the pandemic. This would not be possible without the phenomenal efforts made throughout our communities and by all those on the front line, especially all those who supported the development and rollout of our vaccination programme.
I am delighted that today's announcement will restore confidence across communities and our economy, while continuing to support the most vulnerable, and ensuring new variants continue to be monitored by our world-leading scientific and research capabilities.
