More great news for the Holme Farm project this week with the decision by Runnymede Borough Council (RBC) to approve a £25,000 grant to support the project. The recommendation was supported by Woodham Councillors Tom Gracey and Scott Lewis, and was approved unanimously at the Council’s Community Services Committee this Wednesday.
This fantastic initiative has been led tirelessly by local residents Ronnie and Christine Kendall, and will provide real benefits in tackling isolation, improve mental wellbeing and protecting the local environment. Discussions are also underway on the potential for the site to help with flood management research and provide support for health and care services across North Surrey.
Following the decision by Defra to reverse their initial position and agree to lease the site in principle, and the project receiving charitable status earlier this year, this is another significant milestone. The funds from RBC will help Ronnie, Christine and the Holme Farm team of supporters begin the transformation of this derelict site into a real community asset. I for one cannot wait to be able to get on site and begin this work.
