It was an absolute pleasure to visit Dementia Carers Support last week and speak to the members and volunteers about the Group's amazing work to support those with dementia and their carers.
Dementia is a cruel disease and it can leave many patients, carers and families feeling isolated. Dementia Carers Support meets twice each week to give them a safe and supportive place to visit, where they can enjoy good company but also share experiences, information and advice. Everyone I spoke to told me what a lifeline the Group has been to them, and how the work of Frances and her team of volunteers has really made a difference in their lives.
While on the surface it may appear to be a nice afternoon out with tea and cake and a game of pool, the wealth of knowledge, passion for providing care to those who need it, and drive to find further ways of supporting dementia carers is evident in every aspect of their work. Frances and her team are truly another example of the inspirational community volunteers who work so hard to improve the lives of others.
Based in New Haw, the group is available to anyone in the area who could benefit. please contact Frances Dyble-Goode for further information on 01932 342910 or email [email protected]
