The Health Secretary Matt Hancock yesterday announced major innovations and support for the NHS to tackle the Coronavirus, including the creation of the NHS Nightingale Hospital. This new field hospital is being created at London’s Excel Centre, and will provide up to 4,000 beds for patients with Covid-19.
Other measures announced included:
- The recruitment of 250,000 NHS Volunteers
- More than 11,500 retired medics returning to work, including 2,660 doctors and 6,147 nurses
- More than 18,000 medical students will join the NHS workforce.
Everyone has their role to play to protect our communities, whether that is through front line operations and their support, or simply by staying at home to limit the spread of the disease.
By working together to support the NHS and all key services, we can and will fight this disease. To register as an NHS volunteer, please visit https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS
