This week I was pleased to join colleagues in establishing the first All Party Parliamentary Group for the South Western Railway. The aim of the Group is to take a direct and decisive role in improving the train service for constituents.
This is even more important following the announcement by the Secretary of State for Transport this week, stating his Department have concerns over the long term viability of South Western Rail and are preparing contingency measures, should they be required.
The APPG will examine the entire railway business, with an aim to ensuring a service for commuters which provides capacity, connectivity and high performance while ensuring value for money.
