Nestled into the Addlestone Community Centre is one of our fantastic Youth Hubs – a joint venture from The Jobcentre, Elmbridge Borough Council and Runnymede Borough Council to work directly with employers to create opportunities in work for young people claiming universal credit in the boroughs.
I visited to thank the team for the great work they are doing, and I heard how youth unemployment has halved since the early days of the pandemic but there is more to be done and the Hub has been launched to offer intensive learning and support for those 18-24 year olds still struggling to find work or facing redundancy. The main Hub is based out of Brooklands College with additional hubs in Addlestone and Egham. You can find out more about the support they offer at: https://www.brooklands.ac.uk/youthhub/
The youth hub have one ask - if you own a business and could offer mentoring an support to a young person around employment, or have a vacancy –please do let me know at [email protected]. All information will be passed on to the youth hub and you can help get more people back into work and change a life!
