Recently I met with Church Street and Rowan Tree Practices in Weybridge town centre to discuss the issues and challenges they are facing in the temporary portacabins on the site.
One issue that was raised by the Practice Managers was the lack of space to deliver services to patients. There are some rooms on site that are leased to Central Surrey Heath that are not often used and could be utilised by the Practices.
So I wrote to Central Surrey Health, the tenants of these rooms, to ask that they are released to the GP Practices on the days they are not in use. I am pleased that CSH have agreed in their response to work towards a solution. I will be inviting both to an urgent meeting with the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Service to discuss extra space for care provision on the site.
We need to crack on and rebuild the Medical Centre, but in the short-term we must maximise the use of the temporary resources that are there now and I will be pressing the CCG to support the practice in delivering care for my residents.
Next month I’ll be holding a public meeting to update residents on the recent progress towards the Medical Centre rebuild.
