It was great to recently meet the team from Cats Protection, where I not only got to swap stories about my amazing cats, Frazzle and Ragnar, but also discuss ways to improve the lives of cats and their owners, from cat microchipping to enabling more people in rented housing to own pet cats.
Especially at this time of year it is important to remember that pets make excellent companions, but they do need ongoing care and attention. The work Cats Protection are doing to promote microchipping is especially important to me. Six years ago our cat Ragnar was lost and despite all efforts we could not find him. But two years ago we received a call from a vet. A cat had been taken to them, and due to his microchip they were able to contact us to tell us Ragnar had been found! We will never know where he was for those 4 years, but are very thankful that he is reunited with us, and he remains a very happy cat!
If you have a pet, or are considering getting a pet, please do remember that they do need to be microchipped. For more information on this and the work of cats protection, please visit: www.cats.org.uk
