Following the incursion by Russian troops into Ukraine last night, Dr Ben Spencer MP released the following message:
I am appalled at the events in Ukraine overnight, and I welcome the UK's continued support for President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.
Both the actions of the Russian military and rhetoric of President Putin are shameful and directly contradict their stated aim of continued diplomacy. Violence does not have to lead to further escalation and even more violence, and I sincerely hope that our efforts and tough international sanctions, and those of the UN, NATO and all countries pressing for a peaceful solution and de-escalation will prevail; preventing any further bloodshed, and seeing the removal of Russian troops from the Ukraine.
