The funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II yesterday will have touched the hearts of millions of people throughout the UK and around the world. Her life spanned much change and challenge, but through her reign she was a constant presence, providing comfort and stability through her unwavering commitment to service duty and her country.
From the 75 BPM drum and marching pace, interspersed with the knelling of Big Ben for each year of her life, to the power of the hymns, a celebration of life sung to the heavens, then the stillness as the nation fell silent in respect and mourning for our former monarch - the service was a fitting final tribute to an inspirational Queen.
This weekend has been one of much emotion, part grief for her passing, part celebration of her life. Away from the state occasions our communities have also come together across the country to pay their respects. through the many flowers and tributes left in her memory, the church vigils, and the thousands who paid respects on the Queen’s final journey home, through Runnymede, to Windsor. The respect shown by all those involved, and the love and affection in which she was held, was incredible to witness.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with King Charles The Third and the Royal Family at this time. I hope they are now able to grieve in private, as they take on the new roles and responsibilities that are entrusted to them.
God Bless HM Queen Elizabeth II. May she Rest in Peace.
