This weekend I had the honour of attending ceremonies in Guildford, Elmbridge, and Runnymede to proclaim our new monarch, King Charles III. I also paid tribute to the life and service of HM Queen Elizabeth II in Parliament on behalf of residents of Runnymede and Weybridge, and today attended the presentation of a Humble Address to His Majesty the King in Westminster Hall.
Her Majesty Elizabeth II was an inspirational figure who embodied selfless service and provided stability, support and succour through times of challenge. Her legacy will live on through the long tradition of the monarchy and in the Reign of our new King, King Charles III.
I know many will wish to leave their own tribute to the Queen. In Runnymede a book of condolence is open at the Civic Centre, Addlestone, and will be available during opening hours until the day after Her Majesty’s funeral. Residents may also leave flowers and tributes to the Queen at the flagpole at the Civic Centre, Addlestone, at St Peter’s Church in Chertsey, and around the statue of the Queen at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds.
For Weybridge residents, a book of condolence will be available from 9am – 3.30pm at the Churchfield Place Community Centre until the day of the Queen’s funeral.
