The number one thing that makes Runnymede and Weybridge such a great place to live and work is our great communities and the people who live here. Over the past year we have again seen people rallying to support each other, acts of kindness and a ‘can do’ attitude that helps to overcome challenges and bring people together.
I was therefore delighted that this has been acknowledged in the New Year’s Honours list, with not just one or two people recognised for their efforts, but seven! These honours were awarded to people from all across the constituency for achievements and contributions in the fields of sport, engineering, finance, education, public service, for supporting young people and tackling loneliness. The breadth of topics highlights how much amazing work is done locally.
There is of course much, much more good work that takes place on a daily basis than can be recognised in the Honours list. I congratulate everyone who was recognised for their efforts, and offer sincere thanks to the many hundreds of others who also go above and beyond each week providing vital services and support for others. Well Done!!!
