The Prime Minister has last night announced all households in the UK must stay at home for all but essential activity.
These measures come into force to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus, in response to the evidence of its continuing spread in the UK.
Permitted activities include:
- One form of daily exercise
- Shopping for essential supplies, such as food and medicine
- Travel for medical need or to care for a vulnerable person
- Travel to and from work, but only when absolutely necessary
Gatherings of more than 2 people (other than family groups) are not permitted, and are enforceable by the police through issuing fines and dispersing gatherings.
Weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies are also not permitted.
These measures will have substantial impact on everyone, but are absolutely necessary to halt the spread of this disease, protect our NHS and save many thousands of lives.
