It was fantastic to recently visit Ottershaw Christ Church C of E Infant and Junior Schools. It was great to see the kids in the Jubilee spirit, learning about royal history as well as making crafts (and, most importantly, snacks!) for the Jubilee celebration.
My thanks to Jo, Debbie and the entire staff who are doing an outstanding job for the children in their care.
Schools play a crucial, foundational role in our communities. From providing free services to those grappling with the challenges of parenthood, to endowing future generations with the skills necessary to succeed, their importance cannot be understated.
As communities struggle during the post pandemic recovery, it is essential that schools generate resilience amongst their pupils. Children need to be taught that failure is not catastrophic and that hard work, as well as perseverance, are synonyms of success.
Our educational institutions are cultivating Britain’s future every single day. Those in Runnymede and Weybridge, especially, will continue to have my full support as they do so.
