Dr Ben Spencer has written to the Universities Minister calling for clarity on when all university students will be able to return to on site learning.
While students on practical Higher Education courses have been able to return since 8 March, and some essential courses, such as health and social care have continued to operate in person since January, the remaining students still do not know when they may be able to return to university to continue their courses.
Commenting, Dr Ben Spencer said:
While university staff have been doing an excellent job to facilitate remote learning, I have been clear that I believe education must continue to be prioritised in our response to the pandemic. With restrictions easing all university students should now be able to benefit from the progress we have made and be able to return to their studies in person. I know first hand how keen both Royal Holloway and many students are to have courses resume in person, and I have urged Ministers to announce the return of all Higher Education students as soon as possible.
Last month the Government committed to reviewing the options for the return of the remaining students by the end of the Easter holidays, and ensured students and institutions would be given at least a week’s notice ahead of any reopening.
