It was a pleasure to welcome the Secretary of State for Business, Kemi Badenoch MP, to Runnymede and Weybridge to visit Kite Glass in Weybridge. The visit was part of her work to meet with and support SMEs and the manufacturing sector.
Kite Glass is a leading specialist glass manufacturer, making and delivering high quality glass solutions for a wide range of uses and needs across commercial, infrastructure, marine, transport and residential sectors.
The Business Secretary toured the factory and met with the staff and management team, discussing the techniques and skills needed and the challenges and opportunities facing the business. These included energy cost and supply, recruitment, regulatory changes and competition with European markets. While the Government is working to support businesses in many of these areas, Kemi Badenoch agreed to work with me to further investigate the specific regulatory issues affecting the sector.
